Breanna Nix, a 25-year-old from Denton, Texas, auditions for American Idol by singing Carrie Underwood’s “Jesus, Take the Wheel.” She brings her toddler son, Emerson, with her, and her husband Austin plays the piano.

During the audition, Carrie holds Emerson in her lap while Breanna, a stay-at-home mom, opens up about a life-changing decision she made after having her son.

Weighing 315 pounds post-pregnancy, Breanna decided to lose weight to become the best mom she could be, embarking on a journey of self-love.

She hopes her son will see her chase her dreams and do the same.

Carrie is moved to tears by Breanna’s performance, but viewers will have to tune in to see if Breanna earns a Golden Ticket to Hollywood. The show airs on Sunday at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC and streams on Hulu the next day.
